Down Wind Foiling

In 2025, we are offering both a Downwind Foil Open and a Downwind Foil Elite event.

Downwind Foil Open: 130 spots available. 50 will be reserved for elite riders, and 80 will be allocated based on application files, including results from an official competition or GPS track of at least 10 km. The 84 participants from the 2024 French Open are already pre-selected.

Downwind Foil Elite: 50 spots available. The top 30 riders from 2024 are pre-selected. Additional spots will be open to 2025 top-seeded applicants, based on official race results.

Competition Rules

  • Starts must be performed exclusively using a single-blade paddle, similar to those used in SUP racing.
  • During boat transfers, riders may bring two front wings, one mast, and one board to choose the equipment best suited to the weather conditions.
  • Each participant must be equipped with personal safety gear. Wearing a leash and a 50N/CE certified life jacket is mandatory, along with a phone in a waterproof pouch. The organizer may require additional safety equipment, such as a flare or any other individual safety device, if deemed necessary.

Surf Foiling

In 2025, 50 spots will be allocated through selection:
30 spots are reserved based on last year’s rankings and top seeds.
4 spots will be awarded through the Brittany Trials.
16 spots will be granted based on application (official race results, video, etc.).

Competition Rules

  • The surfer must perform controlled radical maneuvers in the most critical section of the wave, demonstrating speed, control, and flow to maximize scoring potential. Innovative and progressive surfing, as well as the variety in the surfer’s technical repertoire (maneuvers), will be considered when scoring ridden waves. The surfer who meets these criteria, while displaying the highest degree of difficulty and commitment on the waves, will be rewarded with the highest scores.
  • Angle of approach is a clearly identifiable element that will help assess risk-taking during maneuvers and the technical difficulty of trajectories.
  • Judges will pay close attention to control and flow — the smoothness of movements and transitions is an essential part of the scoring criteria.

Dockstart Pumping

In 2025, 50 spots will be allocated through selection.

Women’s Selection (Ondines)
Based on application file, candidates must have a suitable profile to participate in the event

Men’s Selection
Trials Open: No selection required, free entry. Qualifies 20 riders for the Main Event (2 timed attempts and top 20 fastest times qualify).
Main Event: 50 spots total (30 spots awarded based on last year’s ranking and top seed status + 20 riders qualified from the Trials).

Competition Rules

  • A course of approximately 200 meters starting from a catway docking arm, with a gate (two red buoys) allowing riders to choose either a right or left turn, followed by a return toward a green buoy with a left-hand turn before crossing the finish line. All rankings will be determined by placement only — no times will be recorded.
  • For each heat, starting positions will be assigned randomly.
  • In total, the format includes: 8 qualifying heats of 5 riders each, with the winner advancing to the quarter-finals – 8 repechage heats of 4 riders each, with the winner also advancing to the quarter-finals – Quarter-finals of 4 riders, with the top 2 advancing to the semi-finals – Semi-finals of 4 riders, with the top 2 advancing to the final – A 4-rider final to determine the podium
