Today, the beach of La Palue in Brittany hosted the second day of the Crozon Foil Festival, featuring the French Surf Foil Open. After a magnificent sunrise, the beach revealed itself under golden light, showcasing ideal wave conditions for the competition. From the very first heats, the waves — consistent and clean between 50 cm and 1.20 m — offered the perfect canvas for technical and spectacular maneuvers. These conditions pushed both male and female competitors to commit to a more radical style of surfing in hopes of scoring high.
Riders from around the world, including Hawaii and Australia, many of whom were discovering Brittany’s waves for the first time, were thrilled and described the conditions as exceptional for the discipline. Each rider was offered two heats of 15 minutes, with the goal of catching their best possible waves. The aim was to reach the top 4 for women and top 24 for men to advance to the finals. From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the audience enjoyed impressive performances from both international and French riders, all giving their best in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Between heats, spectators and water sports enthusiasts were also treated to a show of aerial moves by free surf foilers, adding extra flair to the day. At the end of the day, 4 women and 24 men were selected for the final rounds scheduled the following day. The best performances of the day came from Tahitian rider Naumi Eychenne and Australian Luke Atkinson, while Brittany’s own Benoît Carpentier and Servane Galand secured 3rd and 4th place respectively in the day’s standings.

This Thursday marked the conclusion of the surf foil event at the Crozon Foil Festival, with a full day dedicated exclusively to this discipline. Under another striking sunrise lighting the first breaking waves at La Palue, the final phases of the competition showcased the world’s top surf foil athletes. With perfect wave conditions and light offshore winds, the day was described by many as unforgettable.
From the very first heats, the performance level soared, featuring increasingly spectacular aerial maneuvers. In the women’s category, Tahitian Naumi Eychenne shone once again, claiming victory over French riders Milla Danguy and Servane Galand, demonstrating remarkable ease in the Breton waves.

On the men’s side, surfers from Hawaii, Australia, and France reached the finals, but it was ultimately Australian Luke Atkinson who took the win, ahead of Hawaiian Cash Berzola and Frenchman Clément Roseyro. To wrap up the day, the organizers hosted a Strap Surf Foil exhibition event, where riders had their feet strapped to the board — a setup that allows for even more extreme aerial tricks. And the challenge delivered: spectators witnessed jaw-dropping backflips.
On this event, Hawaiian Cash Berzola, the favorite in this category, came out on top once again, followed by Tahitian Axel Pham, Hawaiian Finn Spencer, and local champion Benoît Carpentier.
